Today, I would like to write in English because I’m a bilingual teacher and I need to practice it in order to improve my knowledge while enjoying my holidays in my town Alhaurín de la Torre, lovely country village. July is an ideal month to study for everybody. In my last adventure in Great Britain, I brought a lot of traditional fairies stories, rhythms, etc, but, my favourite select and exclusive book is “SeaFood Salad” from Pride of Britain Hotels. |
As the book says: Seafood Salad pays tribute to the wonders of the seas around the shores of Britain. For the moment, I´ll start with the story of the prawn called Prudence (pag 54) “Prudence Prawn” Miss Prudence Prawn was mystified, Her hair had gone awry, Instead of hanging down her back, It stood quite three feet high. It brushed against the ceiling, As she walked across the floors, And to get into the bathroom, She had to crawl upon all fours. Her reflection in the mirror, She noticed with dismay, Showed every hair upon her head, Had turned a silvery grey. What had she done the night before, To cause her dreadful plight? She´d wined and dined and partied And danced to half the night. She had waltzed with Mr Turbot, His steps precise and neat, And jived with Mr. Halibut, Who´d trampled on her feet. Then a tall dark stranger took her arm, For the final Scottish reel, Too late, she looked into the eyes, Of Ed the electric eel!
Did you enjoy it? Yes? So, one more: “Weather or not” Below the waves, It never snows on mountain tops, No sound of gently falling rain drops, (wind and drizzle, sleet and mizzle, do not disturb the deep). Beneath the sea, Fog never ever forms or lingers No touch felt of Jack Frost´s chilly fingers, (wind and drizzle, sleet and mizzle never stir our sleep). Underneath the ocean, We find no need nor wish To hear good news from Michael fish, (wind and drizzle, sleet and mizzle cannot make us weep). THE END. |
