Lauro Golf holds a great charity tournament in favour of the “City of children Organization”
Last Sunday, July 8th the fourth edition of the San Juan tournament was hold at Lauro Golf, this is a charity competition organized by the Laurino club with Salvador Gonzalez, their President, as the organizer in favour of the “City of Children”. The Laurino club is a club of friends from Alhaurín de la Torre, who have played at Lauro Golf for many years and helped approaching this sport to the municipality of Alhaurín.
The former editions were very successful but they were not charity ones. In this fourth Edition, they wanted to do something different, trying to support the most vulnerable ones. For this reason they thought that “City of Children” would be a good source to provide them with donations.
These donations consisted of the money collected from the sale of tickets for the draw of a Scooter donated by Motos Garrido and part of the green fee from each participant reaching a total amount of 1,400€, that will be used for the purchase of food, clothing or any products of first necessity for the children. Some other sponsors wanted to give support to this cause, they were: Town Hall of Alhaurín de la Torre, Restaurante La Perdiz, Alejasa, Salpasur, Cítricos El Romeral, Peluquería Javi, Talleres Siedel, Carnicería El Ranchito, Almacenes Rueda, San Miguel, Coca Cola, Restaurante Mama Luchía Golf y Lauro Golf with prizes for the winners and for the winners in the raffle.
Despite the heat, the tournament featured a massive participation, that was the reason why the management decided to have a shot gun start from the old holes of the golf course, with prizes for the nearest to the pin in all par three; as well as for the longest drive.
The classifications attended to two mixed categories according to handicap with three prizes each, followed by a prize for the player who played with the least number of strokes (Scratch Prize) that person was Sara Navarro Morilla, a junior golfer, with 73 hits. Sara received a standing ovation from the audience. Finally, there was also a prize for the least fortunate in the game that prize went to Floreal Ramos, who happily and with a good sense of humour picked up his prize, stating to be very proud of receiving this prize in this solidarity competition.
No participant of the tournament was left without receiving a prize or gift, most of them were distributed during the raffle which took place right after the prize giving ceremony.
