Lauro Golf pays tribute to the Queen of Holland in the XIII Koninginnedag Tournament
As every spring the birthday of the Queen of Holland was celebrated on 30the of April at Lauro Golf by organizing the eight edition of the ever so popular competition Koninginendag. Unfortunately the weather conditions weren´t the best and the competition was played under dark clouds with some light rain. The competition was almost cancelled due to the bad weather forecast but due to requests from the participants the competition went ahead at nine am by a shotgun. Nevertheless before starting it was decided to play only nine holes. However, even the dark weather couldn´t spoil the festive atmosphere and by the afternoon even the sky started to clear up.
There were four mixed categories with three prizes in each one, two for dutch and two for non-dutch. There was also a price for the best lady, for nearest the pin and for longest drive.
Amongst the sponsors were: Restaurante Vino Mío, La Duquesa Golf, Patronato de Turismo de la Costa de Sol, Antequera Golf, Restaurante Mama Luchia Golf, Golfspain, Añoreta Golf, Kosta, Hoteles Elba, Parador de Golf, La Resina Golf & Country Club, Sol Andalusí, Dehesa Montenmedio, Andrés Olivares, Baviera Golf, Iberia, Club de Golf Los Naranjos, Wilma Abogados, Málaga Wagen y Lauro Golf.
The on-site Restaurant “Mama Luchía Golf” had prepared a delicious buffet lunch enjoyed by the participants before the prize giving, which was run by Carolina Steinmetz, ex-marketing manager of Lauro Golf and the organizer of the tournament. A raffle with splendid prices, among them two Iberia flight tickets took place straight after the prize giving. The Irish singer Paddy Mac entertained the quests with his music and jokes.
