En esta competición se quiso rendir homenaje al que fue por muchos años presidente del club, D. Jorge Maldonado Eloy-García, por sus diez años de entera dedicación desde la apertura del campo en 1992 hasta el 2002. A modo de curiosidad, cabe decir que la finca en la que se encuentra emplazada Lauro Golf, fue en su día propiedad de la familia Maldonado, y en la que el mismísimo Jorge fue a nacer.
La competición fue un éxito desde el comienzo hasta su desenlace, donde el buen ambiente y deportividad brillaron con su presencia. La modalidad de juego fue Stableford Individual con salida desde un hoyo. Al término de la competición tuvo lugar la muy esperada entrega de premios, que fue amenizada por las caddies master de Lauro Golf Melissa Gallardo y Sani Alba, acompañadas de la representante comercial de Málaga Virgen y ex_trabajadora de Lauro Golf, Mariela; y por supuesto el homenajeado Jorge Maldonado.
El puesto de honor fue coronado por una señora Dª. Aurora Alarcón Pérez que realizó la mayor puntuación con 38 puntos; y en tercera posición quedó clasificado el gerente de Lauro Golf D. Carlos Pitarch Little con una puntuación final de 37 puntos.

I MALAGA VIRGEN TOURNAMENT
No player was left without a delicious taste of Malaga Virgen in the first tournament Malaga Virgen that was held on May the 30th at Lauro Golf.
Our most international wine was present during the whole journey, from the moment of arrival each participant was given a small bottle of genuine Malaga Virgen. Besides during the game the players were able to taste other specialities of the brand, like Tres Leones or Cartojal, together with a tapa, courtesy of the club.Finally at the prize giving there was a raffle of dozens of bottles.
The winery of this brand was founded at the end of the 19th century(1885), by Salvador López López, an entrepreneur and enthusiast of the wine world, who used the wines made in his own presses. At present Malaga wines have received several World Awards especially for their two years oak age wines all over the world.
The club also wanted to pay tribute to the person who for many years was the president of Lauro Golf, Mr. Jorge Maldonado Eloy-García, for his ten years of dedication since the opening of the course in 1992 until 2002. As a curiosity, the property where Lauro Golf is located, was once owned by the Maldonado family, in which George himself was born.
The competition was a success from the beginning to the end. The modality of the tournamnet was Stableford Individual starting from one hole. At the end of the competition the much awaited prize giving took place, held by the caddy masters of Lauro Golf Melissa Gallardo and Sani Alba, accompanied by the Malaga Virgen Representative and former worker of Lauro Golf, Mariela, and of course Jorge Maldonado.
The first position was crowned by a lady Ms.Aurora Pérez Alarcón who made the highest score with 38 points and in third position was classified the manager of Lauro Golf Mr. Carlos Pitarch Little with a final score of 37 points.

Ningún jugador se quedó sin degustar un delicioso Málaga Virgen en el primer torneo Málaga Virgen que se disputó el pasado 30 de Mayo en Lauro Golf. La jornada estuvo bañada por nuestro vino más internacional, desde el mismo momento de la llegada al caddy master se les otorgó a cada uno de los participantes una botellita del genuino Málaga Virgen. Además durante el recorrido pudieron degustar otras especialidades de la marca; como Tres Leones o Cartojal, acompañados de una tapa, cortesía del club; y finalmente en la entrega de premios donde se rifaron decenas de botellas entre los asistentes. La Bodega que dio lugar a este vino se fundó a finales del siglo XIX (1885) por Salvador López López, un enamorado de todo lo relacionado con los Vinos, que inicia su andadura consiguiendo fundar unas bodegas para la producción, elaboración, crianza y comercialización cuya fama se extiende en el mundo, como son los Vinos de Málaga.
