Después de la inauguración oficial a las 14.00 por el ilustrísimo Sr. Alcalde, el Gerente de Lauro Golf Don Carlos Pitarch y el Director del Lawn Bowls Club Don Kenneth Talbot, los participantes disfrutaron de un cóctel de bienvenida a base de aperitivos y canapés seguido de un partido de exhibición. Este primer fin de semana es abierto, por lo cual todos los que deseen dar una vuelta por Lauro y probar este deporte están invitados a jugar gratuitamente.
Lawn Bowls es un deporte tradicional originado en siglo XII, practicado en varios países, alcanzando una enorme popularidad en Inglaterra, especialmente en el sur, donde cuenta con miles de aficionados. Este deporte al no necesitar de una buena preparación física, es recomendado para todas las edades. Los Lawn Bowls se juegan habitualmente al aire libre sobre césped o una superficie de césped artificial llamado bowling green. El objetivo de este deporte es rodar bolas asimétricas, llamados bowls lo más cerca posible a otra bola más pequeña, normalmente de color blanco llamado “jack” o “kitty”.

Grand Opening of Lawn Bowls Club in Lauro Golf
Crowds of attendees gathered at this event which completes the offer of service and sport activities at Lauro 27 Golf Resort.
Saturday February the 7th the opening of the new Lawn Bowls Club in Lauro Golf in Alhaurín de la Torre took place. It was officially inaugurated by the Mayor of Alhaurín de la Torre Don Joaquín Villanova and the sports councilman Don Pablo Montesinos, among others present. The opening of the Lawn Bowls Club completes a full range of activities that Lauro Golf has for its clients, becoming now a veritable Resort. It currently has a 27 hole Golf Course with a Paddle Tennis Club, an Equestrian Centre and the imminent opening of New Driving Range and Golf School. The arrival of the Lawn Bowls Club has been highly anticipated and many people have already demonstrated their enthusiasm and interest towards this British originated sport. The newly established club now has over one hundred members and its first goal is to be an active member in the Costa del Sol Lawn Bowl Clubs League.
After the official opening at 1400 by the illustrious Mayor, Lauro Golf Resort Manager Mr. Carlos Pitarch, and Lawn Bowls Club Director Mr. Kenneth Talbot, the participants enjoyed canapés and refreshments catered by Venta la Risa followed by an exhibition match. This first weekend is open, so all those wishing to take a drive by Lauro and try out the sport are invited to play for free.
Lawn Bowls is a traditional sport originated in the twelfth century, and practiced in several countries, it has gained tremendous popularity in England, especially in the south, which has thousands of fans. As this sport does not need a good physical preparation, it is recommended for all ages. The Lawn Bowls is usually played outdoors on grass or an artificial grass surface called the bowling green. The goal of the game is that asymmetric rolling balls, called bowls are rolled as close as possible to another smaller ball, usually white, called "jack" or "kitty".
